This groundbreaking book looks at the theory of magic (written by Maskelyne) and the practice of magic (by Devant). An absolute essential for any magician or magic history fan. This is the first London edition with photographic illustrations (many on the stage at St. George's Hall) rather than the line drawings in some later editions.
Condition: Poor, this is a very well-worn copy, entirely missing its spine, boards are both nearly detached, ex-library with stamps and markings throughout, binding loose with some early pages connected to the text block with tape. Plate of Nevil Maskelyne is well worn with torn edges and creased. A good candidate for rebinding.
