This attractive book, numbered 490 of just 500 copies produced, charts the history of J. N. Maskelyne's whist-playing faux automata and its many imitators. It includes detailed photos of a working version of the effect along with reproductions of many rare pieces of ephemera. A must for people interested in the legacy of J. N. Maskelyne.
 
Condition: Very good, some very minor wear. Cover has some minor creases that seem to be from when the thick card cover was folded in the binding process and are likely on all examples.
